Responding to Crisis: Attending to Mental Health and Wellness in Schools Today
Every school needs a mental health action plan for students, staff and parents. This workshop gives school leaders a framework and the knowledge to create a comprehensive plan and learn more about essential topics such as mental illness, depression, suicidal ideation, intervention and prevention strategies.

Prevent School Violence, Improve Staff Response, Create Safer Environments
Through a high level of classroom participation and multiple school specific crisis scenarios, participants will learn how to improve their own responses to student escalations and critical events, as well as strategies to train their staff for safer school environments.
Bullying, Harassment and Intimidation: 21st Century Issues and Solutions
While we will never eliminate all bullying and harassment within a school setting, there are things educators can do to significantly reduce the number of incidents. For real change to occur in terms of student behavior, a school wide effort will be necessary. This Academy will support educators at all levels understand the legal vulnerabilities associated with bullying as well as how to appropriately respond when the behaviors are demonstrated and communicated electronically. Specific strategies for working with parents and students will be shared.

Illinois School Resource Officers Association Annual Conference
June 20-22 the ISROA will host its conference in Bloomington-Normal. Topics include mass incident policy and procedure development, tactical medical concepts and more. Details and registration can be found here.

The Illinois State Board of Education, Illinois Emergency Management Agency, Facility Engineering Associates P.C., Lake Forest Elementary School District 67, Township High School District 211, Illinois School Resource Officers Association, Archdiocese of Chicago Office of Catholic Schools, and Proviso Area for Exceptional Children are hosting a conference from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 18 in Mount Prospect. The conference intends to heighten safety awareness by gathering experts in the field of school safety and crisis prevention. School and district administrators can learn how to enhance the safety and security of school facilities on a day-to-day basis and long term. There is no cost to attendees. This vital information will be practical and easy to apply, and there will be ample time for questions.
Registration is open through April 9. Register and view additional information. When registering, please provide the name of your school or agency, along with your name, phone number, and email address. Registration is limited to four people per department or school.
