Staying Connected with the IPA

By Jason Leahy posted 12 days ago

First, we want to give you a heartfelt thank you from everyone here at IPA. On the best days, being a school leader is challenging. Now you are tasked with solving what can feel like impossible problems. But you are proving they are not insurmountable, and are handling it with grace, compassion and ingenuity. If you have the time, think about tweeting out a picture of your staff stepping up to meet the needs of kids and use the hashtag #ILSchoolStepUp. We are honored to serve you, and if the association can do anything to help, please do not hesitate to contact us.

If you have mailed in an event registration recently but have not received a registration confirmation email from netforum@ilprincipals.org within 72 hours of the event, please email Beth Broyles at beth@ilprincipals.org. Thank you for your understanding.

If you have mailed in a membership registration, but believe it has not been received or processed, please contact Lisa Thoele at lisa@ilprincipals.org. (Upon processing, you should receive an email from netforum@ilprincipals.org.) Thank you for your patience.

Status Update on IPA Administrator Academies - **UPDATED 3/20/2020**

The Illinois Principals Association is regularly monitoring the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic and is working to assist school leaders as best we can.

Online Administrator Academies

We are holding online administrator academies as scheduled, but please note that our ability to hold academies is dependent on the availability and health of our staff and presenters. In the event a workshop must be cancelled, we will notify participants as soon as possible and offer registrants a refund or an opportunity to register for a different workshop. Registrants will receive pre-work assignments and login details for online workshops via email from Pam Burdine (pam@ilprincipals.org) or Beth Broyles (beth@ilprincipals.org) approximately one week before the session and a follow-up reminder the day before the academy.

Please use our online calendar for the most up-to-date source of information for our available academies.

Face-to-Face Administrator Academies

No face-to-face administrator academies will be held between now and June 30, 2020. All scheduled face-to-face administrator academies have been changed to an online delivery format or canceled. If you have registered for a face-to-face academy, you will be notified of the change as soon as possible. The online format will require participants to complete pre-work, fully participate in a three-hour virtual training session with the presenter and complete and submit the required application/dissemination plan after the session concludes. Online administrator academies carry the same value as a 6-hour face-to-face academy. Completion of one online administrator academy meets the annual AA requirement for Illinois administrative license holders.

Evaluator Training Administrator Academies

We received word from ISBE on Friday, March 20, that we may offer evaluator training through an online format while Illinois is under the governor-issued state of emergency. We are working to convert the scheduled evaluation academies (#1801, #1865, #2001, and #3000/01/02) to an online format as quickly as possible. If your workshop was postponed, you will be notified of alternative online dates for which you may participate. Additionally, we will post registration details for available online evaluator training sessions on our website as they become known.

Please view the Initial Teacher Evaluator (AA #2001) Training schedule here.

Please view the Evaluator Retraining schedule here.

On-Demand Administrator Academies

IPA currently offers five on-demand administrator academies. On-demand administrator academies are completed through the Ed Leaders Network learning platform and allow the learner to engage in the course at their own convenience. The platform saves the participant's work as they progress so the learner can continue where he/she left off throughout the course.

Please view the On-Demand schedule here.

Registration Questions?

If you are already registered for an academy and cannot attend for any reason, please contact Laura Adams via email (laura@ilprincipals.org). Please let her know if you would like a refund, credit, or to switch to a different academy (including the date and name of the academy).

Status Update on ELN Uploads and Support Tickets

We have a considerable influx of districts seeking access to Ed Leaders Network, which is great! ELN is an excellent resource for remote professional learning! Due to the volume of requests, uploading staff and granting them access to the Learning Management System is taking longer than usual. Additionally, because of a larger than normal number of users wanting taking advantage of ELN, responding to support tickets is taking longer than usual. As we work through the queue of both uploading staff and support tickets, we appreciate your patience and understanding.
